Faygo has been sitting in my fridge for a while now.  This morning, during a particularly aggressive jostling, it exploded, and I was forced to drink it at breakfast.  While I prefer for my reviews to occur when the time is perfect, sometimes life throws a curve ball.  So here we are.

Faygo is one of those deeply-synthetic root beers that has a place in all of our childhoods (as opposed to the all-natural root beers, which, despite the tradition-focused marketing, were generally not around much in those days).  It looks and smells like a classic root beer, and is highly carbonated, like most canned drinks.  It has no surprising flavours, but the “rootbeeryness” is strong.

This is a bright root beer, not a creamy variety.  It tastes basically like carbonated water with sweetener and a flavour shot.  But hey, it tastes as it should, so as long as you’re not expecting a profound root beer awakening, it should do just fine.

A strong hit of carbonation followed by a mild caramelized flavor with a delayed slightly bitter finish. The Caramelized flavor lingers after the swallow. The sweetness is kept on a leash making it a pleasant experience.
The flavor is somewhat complex but very subdued.

It makes an excellent Root Beer float. I would call this the Root Beer next door.
