Way 2 Cool looks and tastes like a true home-made root beer. The label looks like it was made on a home PC by a photoshop hobbyist, and it has a funny name, but hey – that only makes it more authentic!
Like a home-brew root beer, Way 2 Cool tastes somewhat yeasty and has a slight alcohol flavour. These traits are usually absent from commercial root beer, so it again confirms the small-batch feel of this product. It had no head and was not fizzy – again a symptom of yeast-derived carbonation rather than commercial CO2 injection. It had a basic, but good, flavour: along with the traditional root beer flavours, it has a bit of wintergreen, subtle licorice and a whiff of vanilla. It is a bit too sickly sweet for my taste, although it was sweetened with sugar (unlike big brands, which use corn-derived sweeteners and artificial stuff).
I gave this root beer a mediocre score because, honestly, it doesn’t stand out in any aspect. If you’re looking for that authentic home-brew taste, though, give it a try!
